W.E.S.T. Drilling owns a Geoprobe™ 6610 DT direct push/auger drilling unit designed to be used to conduct soil and groundwater investigations. Direct push technology allows for rapid collection of soil and groundwater samples with minimal site impact and soil spoils. The 6610 DT also has solid and hollow-stem auger capability for the installation of temporary or permanent groundwater monitor wells from one (1) to four (4) inches in diameter. This unit is capable of performing normal direct push sampling activities and turn up to 8-1/4” O.D. hollow-stem augers, push 3-1/4” O.D. direct push rods, and advance direct sensing equipment such as UVOST, membrane interface and conductivity probes.

The 6610 DT is track-mounted, highly maneuverable (remote controlled) and is capable of drilling on a variety of surfaces, terrains, and in locations not readily accessible to truck-mounted drilling equipment. The 6610 DT is ideal for low clearance indoor and outdoor drilling, limited access locations, and difficult to reach locations with conventional drilling equipment. Because the weight of the unit is evenly distributed over both tracks, the 6610 DT can easily maneuver through shallow water, soft sands, or water saturated soils.  Although direct-push has limits with respect to power, and consequently sample depths, the ability of the tract-mounted equipment to reach limited access locations makes it a useful tool.

The 6610 DT is equipped with a Kubota 4-cylinder diesel engine and GH60 hammer that supply up to 47,000 pounds of pulling capacity and 35,000 pounds of down force.  The 6610 DT has a probe cylinder with a 66 inch stroke.  The width of the unit is 48 inched and the height is 153 inches (12.75 feet) with the mast fully extended.  The 6610 DT is equipped with outrigger extensions for leveling the unit in uneven conditions and has a self-contained decontamination water tank mounted to the rear of the machine.
